Why It's A Must See Movie
I figured that I've picked quite a few coming of age movies about guys. I thought it only fair that I pick one for the girls. Hence, I took the opportunity to re-watch My Girl last night. Gosh! I remembered that this movie was a tearjerker but I had forgotten just how much it made me cry. That's okay though because it makes me smile quite a bit. My Girl is so quirky and endearing how can you not smile at least once.
I just enjoy that this is a coming of age movie that has such a different approach. I think the story and the actors make the film. There are some really lovely performances by the actors that make you truly care about the characters. I love the way the kids are written in this film. They think just like kids do and it's great. I also enjoy the fact that the movie has so many underlying themes. It's that factor that makes all the characters in this film grow as people and not just Vada.
So if you are in need a good coming of age tearjerker get your tissues and put My Girl on. If you feel like it you can watch My Girl 2 as well. It's actually a better than decent sequel film.
