Why It's A Must See Movie
I felt it was time for another journey into the science fiction genre this week. What I like about The Fifth Element is that it isn't just your run of the mill Sci-fi. Yes, it has all the science, aliens, and special effects. It is also flipping hilarious. It's amazing how this movie balances the seriousness of the world being under imminent destruction with the wacky fun that is the characters without the movie becoming campy. I think that is what I like most about the film.
However, other factors make this movie amazing as well. I'm am of course talking about the total brilliance of the actors performances. In particular Gary Oldman being an excellent villain and Chris Tucker stealing the show with his beautiful craziness. Though nobody can deny the awesomeness that is watching Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich kick bad guy butt. This movie reaffirms my trust that filmmakers can create a story where two characters fall in love in the first five seconds of meeting each other and it can still be believable to the audience. The movie is also bursting with creativity in technical terms. The vision for the futuristic world is lovely along with the cool designs for the alien creatures.
The Fifth Element is so wacky fun that I think even people that aren't sci-fi fans will still enjoy it. I would know. I tested it with my dad who definitely does not love sci-fi/fantasy as much as my mom and I do. I hope you guys watch it and enjoy it as well.
