Why It's A Must See Movie
I have been in the mood to pick a series of feel good films lately, so I'm continuing the trend for at least one more week. The Goonies is about as close as you can get to the king of feel good films. This adventure meets comedy meets coming of age movie just makes you feel happy. It always keeps you engaged. It has a perfect amount of hills and valleys in it's action to always keep you entertained. If you aren't on the edge of your seat you're laughing. If you aren't laughing you are thinking something is adorable. The movie make you root for the characters and their goals.
Speaking of the characters I love every single one of them to pieces (even the bad guys). I love that they are so well developed that you feel like you know them. I love how well the movie introduces the characters in the beginning of the film. All the actors are so wonderful. In particular the then young actors. They are so natural on screen. The dialogue written for the kids is so true to how kids behave and talk.
Mostly I just love the adventure of the film. It takes you on a ride. It makes me feel like trials are worth the trouble in the end. It's not something that could really happen, but for the duration of the movie you forget that, and you feel like you are watching a real story. The sense of heightened reality that is the The Goonies creates for the viewer is its true brilliance. Watch it! It is definitely a must see.
P.S. I had this song stuck in my head for hours after watching the movie Saturday night. This two part music video is so wacky fun I and quirky I had to share it.
