Weekly Obsession Wednesday (2)

Hey happy Wednesday! Time to talk about my obsessions for this week. On to the count down.

#5 Lorde

I didn't actually think that I was going to like Lorde's album because it's rare that I like the entire album of someone that is in the top 40. However, last month I decide to give it a try and found that I did really like her music. She reminds me a little of Lana Del Ray and Skylar Grey accept that you can actually make it through 90% of her album without tripping over a curse word. (I love them but I wish I could get through their albums without a curse word every other song.) I like the beats on Lorde's songs and she uses interesting words in her lyrics. Her songs are apparently very catchy because I've had one in my head every day this week. Hence, she made my obsession list this week. Also I watched this video on her Vevo called The World According to Lorde and realized she has quite and amusing personality.

#4 My Audrey Hepburn Calendar

In December I was shopping in Hobby Lobby and just happened to see an Audrey Hepburn Calendar on sale. I just had to have it. I LOVE Audrey. She was such an awesome person. She's definately one of my favorite classic movie actresses. This calendar is super cool because it has the months and days in three languages. It also lists holidays that from all over the world. Of course I love all the great Hepburn photos. Best calendar ever!!!

#3 Justified

Justified used to be "just my dad's show." I mean he loves it in that way that you shouldn't try to speak to him when it's on, because he won't understand the words coming out of your mouth. He has been begging mom and me to watch it for like a year and now that we have a smart TV it's really easy for us to watch it from the beginning on Amazon. My obsession with this show kind of crept up on me slowly. Then last night I totally realized that I loved it. It is crazy brilliant. The dialogue is just so good. Even the endless amount of awesome shows that I watch on a regular basis don't always have dialogue as good as the stuff on Justified.

#2 Nina Simone

Nina Simone was on my list of music kept intending to listen to but never got around to. However, recently my mom was sharing an article about the upcoming Nina Simone Bio-Pic and started sharing some of Nina's biography with me. She has a really cool life story. I'm not going to go into it all here but I will link you to Wiki if you want to have a read. I started watching a couple videos of her performing and thought "I totally need to start listening to this woman." Over the weekend I spent some time enjoying some of her music. I love that both her original and cover songs are good and have her own personal style. The songs don't always go with the traditional song form but they still work. Plus I just think contralto voices are shiny.

#1 My Writing Hats

I literally can not sit down and write without a hat on. I have a ton of hats but I have two favorites I particularly like to wear while writing. The first is a grey semi-shabby knit ear flap hat. I usually only wear this one when I'm writing at home. I find it comforting and not too hot to wear indoors. Even if it is a little worse for wear it a good hat. The other hat I like it a white and green stripped hat that I crocheted. I usually wear this one when I'm writing in public because it's a little more fashionable but it's equally as comfortable. I'm in the process of crocheting myself another hat that will be specifically for writing. I just know I won't be able to write my great American graphic novel without it. (Yes, I want to write comics.)That is if I ever get started writing that novel. Well at any rate I'll have the hat for when I get started.

So that's all folks! Hope you enjoyed. Comment and let me know what your weekly obsessions are. Keep it shiny!
