Tunes for Tuesday - Music Video Spotlight- Stupid by Sarah McLachlan

Hey guys. I'm running a little late today on this post. I had writers block for a moment, because I didn't feel like doing my normal playlist for today. Luckily my mom helped my come up with a good idea. I'm always talking about how I love a music video that has a great concept. You know not just the artist lip syncing the song into the camera or just random images with the song in the backgroud. A video where the director really makes to the effort to put together something that not only fits the song but captures the story of the song. My mom gave me the idea to feature the music videos that I feel fit in that category on occasion. So here it goes. I hope you like it.

For the first post of the Music Video Spotlight segment I decided to go with the first music video I think of when I think of a great music video for a song. For some reason out of all the great videos I've seen, my mind goes to the video for Sarah McLachlan's song "Stupid," from her album Afterglow. I don't just like this video because I love the song (and I do love the song.) I like this video because I tells a great story. Not only that but it sort of uses time travel to tell the story. This means that it's a little bit supernatural and a little bit of a period piece in three and a half minutes of music. Cool! The filters they editor applied to the scenes fit each of the three time periods featured which is an extra touch awesomeness. However, my favorite thing about the video is that it features the musical artist acting more than it shows her singing the lyrics into camera. There are points when Sarah sing the lyrics but it's only in places that fit with the story the video is trying to tell. Have a look at the video and see if you agree with me. Have a happy day. Keep it shiny!
