I recently saw the video of Taylor Swift performing "Ronan" at the Stand Up To Cancer benefit. It's a truly beautiful and heartbreaking tune written with and for a Maya Thompson who lost her three year old son to cancer. Before I even heard the song I was crying like a baby as my mother told me about it as we left the house to go to work. I watched the video for myself and of course cried a little bit more. I was floored by the detail of the lyrics and Taylor's performance which contained so much empathy. I thought it was amazing that she made it though the song without falling apart. I suppose I felt a connection to the song because my grandmother died of cancer. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone to lose their child. Here is the video of her performing "Ronan." The song is also on sale on iTunes and all the proceeds go to the Taylor Swift Charitable Fund.
