Hey. Welcome to my new segment Weekly Obsessions Wednesday, in which I will count down my top five obsessions for the week. I'm pretty obsessive so it's tough to narrow it down to five, but I think I've done it. On with the show!
#5 SensatioNail Gel Nail Polish
For a couple years now I've actually been the poster child for Impress press on nails. However, recently I ran into an issue with press on nails. Press on nails became annoying as heck when I was playing my new instrument the mandolin. The strings are just too close together for them to work. Also, it's not the fault of the product itself to blame but something about the oils on my hands won't allow press ons or normal nail polish to stick to my nails.
Hence, I was in need of a new plan. My plain nail are just so yucky and boring. Plus, I need something to thicken up my nails to play my instruments since I don't like to use picks. Solution gel nail polish. It's thick as anything, has a shiny finish, and doesn't peel easily. As an extra plus the L.E.D lamp means no dry time. I will mention that the box doesn't lie when it says it's almost indestructible. It's a bugger to get off. However, it's supposed to last two weeks. Not that I'll ever know I just can't make it a week without a color change.
#4 Tea
Totally obsessed with tea. I blame it on all the British television shows I've been watching. (Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are beautiful.) Yet, when photographing the rather large collection of tea that I've accumulated over the years I realized I've always loved tea. Now I'm just obsessed with drinking it all to time, because let's face the facts...It's cold as heck outside and tea is warm and comforting. Plus, there is a tea for every occasion. Right?
#3 Ultimate Spider-Man Animated Series
I stumbled on this by accident. I've made a habit of watching kid show on Netflix or Hulu each morning lately. I usually watch Fraggle Rock, X-men, or Batman Beyond. However, one morning I was particularly in the mood for Spider-Man. I searched and I found. Ultimate Spider Man explores Spider centers around his journey working with S.H.I.E.L.D and a new team of fellow teen-age superheroes. It is a flipping awesome show. I love the whole layout of the show. It is down right hilarious. Spider-Man has never been so sarcastic and witty. Which is the way I like him. I haven't watched anything else in the morning since I started this.
#2 Downton Abbey
I have joined ranks with the rest of humanity and begun watching Downton Abbey. It seemed like everyone had watched this show but me. Though now that I think about it that probably isn't true at all. Anyway, my mom and I weren't in the mood for any of our normal show and we were to try something new. Luckily it's free for the Prime members on Amazon. I'm going to insert a Snoppy Dance here for that because it turns out that I love the show. It's one of those show where you think "I'm just going to watch one more episode." Then you complete said episode and think "Maybe I'll just watch one more." The characters are just so great and it is so well written. It's a period set show which just adds to my love of it. Period shows are usually the most beautiful things on the planet.
#1 Sherlock Holmes
I don't know what started my Sherlock Holmes obsession. Maybe my mother's years of loving the stories by Arthur Conan Doyle have finally rubbed off on me. All I can say is that these books/movies/tv shows are definitely living in obsessionville right now. I started the books on a whim. I bought all four books and fifty-eight short stories in one e-book for something like two bucks on Amazon by the way. Shiny! I've finished the first book "A Study In Scarlet" and just started the second one. I'm enjoying the books so much. I guess I just love the dynamic between Sherlock and Watson. A mix of serious annoyance, friendship, and hilarity. On the other hand maybe I just love that Sherlock solves problems with logic and deductive reasoning. Awesome!
Being obsessed with the story has lead to a further obsession with any incarnation of Sherlock Holmes that I come in contact with. Which means that the most recent film adaptation has been watched and I would probably watch some of the older films if I could get my hands on them. Of course, I love the show Elementary and my very extra favorite modern reboot Sherlock. Can't wait until the new season of Sherlock airs in the US on January 19. It's one of the few shows that all of my family like to watch together.
Well that's all folks! Hope you enjoyed reading. Keep it shiny!
